Podcast Reviews
  • Really enjoy this podcast
February 10, 2017 by Google instructions from United States

Not sure why we haven't heard anything since the end of 2016. Perhaps its just a good summer down under. Certainily a chilly winter in the States. Nothing new yet this year? No studies on effects of Trump on markets after he blew off your PM. Trust me, Trump is a jerk, and seems to prove it everytime he offers a tweet. He is, after all, our only Twit-in-Chief. Sadly.... Miss you all.

  • Eyjafjallajökull !!!1!

I just want to hear Ed say Eyjafjallajökull over and over and over...

  • Entertaining and informative

Intelligent skeptical look at the strengths and weaknesses of recently released or published studies with emphasis on analyzing the often misleading mass media "click bait" headlines. Variety of guests together with core panel and excellent host Ed Brown trying to keep "order" adds fun and the Australian perspective.

  • Great science podcast for everyone
    March 29, 2016 by cambrown1 from Australia

This is the best science podcast I've found that deals with non-mainstream (and of course the most interesting mainstream) science news in a fun and accessible way. The presenters manage to explain some pretty complex science in a way that any of us can understand, and have some fun along the way! I've also found the team very responsive to feedback, and am impressed with the quality of their work. Highly recommend. Kudos guys.

I listen to an abundance of podcasts and have done for a good 5 years now... however I've never been able to find one as good as this one. I love the verbal dynamics of the cast and the silly tangents that these boys (and occasionally girls) get themselves into. This show is super under-rated!

  • Fun to listen to. Solid science.
October 15, 2014 by goodfish42 from United States

This is one of my favorite science podcasts -- really a pleasure to listen to. The presenters seem to be having a good time and the conversation is always fun and easy. Stories are well chosen and explained, and the scientific expertise of the presenters is evident -- they give you a good amount of context (especially for biology stories) and are appropriately skeptical when new results seem too good to be true. Also, the host does a great job of setting the pace and keeping everyone organized. Add on to that the fun opening theme and a dash of geeky humor, and it makes for a really excellent show!

  • Fun and smart

I have enjoyed this podcast b/c it is very funny banter about science stories but there is also a serious edge to the analysis. It's proof that you can be amusing and entertaining as well as giving the science content its due. Highly recommended weekly listening.

  • Awesome Science Show!
    December 8, 2011 by Simon_Williams from Australia

I spend a lot of time in the car. Listening to podcasts keeps me sane - particularly science podcasts. I've listened to many different ones over the years and now that I've started to listen to Science On Top I'd rate it as one of my favourites. An eclectic mix of really interesting topics each podcast - all done with familiar aussie accents and relaxing banter! Keep up the good work folks this sort of thing is absolutely brilliant!

  • Fantastic show

    September 24, 2011 by Mc_shamo from Australia

An enthusiastic and motivated bunch that cut through the crud we get served up in mainstream media and go to the source to give us an informed look at the goings on of the scientific world. Great show, and great fun!

  • Cool science show!
August 25, 2011 by Tom Sidwell from Australia

Great show that brings cool science news to the public. Also that immunologist guest they have sounds quite handsome. I suspect that in real life he has rugged good looks and a devastating wit. Certainly a must-hear.

  • Great podcast

Great way to get a summary of the science news of the week along with enough background to let you understand what it means!

  • Excellent Show
August 11, 2011 by KudaPucat from Australia

SoT is an interesting overview of the week in science, packed with heaps of good information and detailed explanations, delivered in a fun and humorous way. The Regulars: Shayne, Ed and Penny make science interesting and fun. It's a really enjoyable show, suitable for all ages. It's good to have reports of interesting science without it being sensationalised, in stark contrast to all commercial media.
