Thanks for agreeing to be on the show! Just a few things before we get started.
Rather than using Skype, we’ve started using an app called Discord. This means we get a clean local recording from everyone, which is a lot easier to edit and provides higher quality. It’s pretty straightforward to set up – but a bit clunky. You can access our Discord server via the web, but installing the app on your device (Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS or Android!) is actually pretty simple (and we haven’t tested using it in the browser).
- Just download the app here.
- It will then ask you to sign in. You can either make your own account, or use one we’ve created for you. Username: sotguest Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Pass: Science123
- Once you’re in the app, you’ll just need to join the Science on Top server. Click the + icon on the left, click Join a Server, and paste this link in: https://discord.gg/ApexYjb
- After that, you should be in the Science on Top server and can drop down to the “Recording” channel where we can talk.
Let me know if you have any trouble, or if you give up and want to just try it on the web, just go here. You’ll be able to press Escape to get out of the “Create Account” window.
I hope that makes sense! We can always switch to Skype if need be.
