SoT Special: 2012 Bloopers and Outtakes

Download Now!Well 2012 was a huge year. Higgs Boson, Curiosity landing on Mars, the ENCODE project and so many other fascinating science discoveries were made, and we had heaps of fun talking about them all. But it wasn’t all plain-sailing, and there were a few times when we’d get distracted, forget our words or go off on a tangent.

And there’s also lots of great conversation that happens behind the scenes, too. Talking to guests about their work, or chatting about stories we did or didn’t cover.

Most of the time, these all get left out of the final show. But they’re not lost forever. We’ve compiled some of the bloopers and out-takes from this year into an entirely new episode for you to enjoy. It’s not on the usual Science on Top RSS feed, so you HAVE to download it manually to listen to it – iTunes and other podcast aggregators won’t get it.

Unlike our show normally, this special episode does contain swear words. It’s raw and unedited, an end-of-year bonus. Please don’t download it if naughty words offend you!

Thanks for your 2012 podcasts. It took a while for a limey to really get you lot and your funny ways but worth perceiving with in the end. What will 2013 bring to your wonderful ramblings I wonder? Now that 365 Days of Astronomy podcast has finished after 4 years may be you will spot the gap in the market and increase your number of astronomy segments?
Cheers and Happy New Years to you all… Pete The Limey

Thank you for listening Pete! We appreciate all the feedback we get from our great listeners, and hope we can bring lots more ‘wonderful ramblings’ in the future!
As for astronomy, I have some ideas in the works for maybe a new, smaller show just for space-related news. I’ll keep you posted!

      Thanks again,
      Ed.

This is pretty funny. The down to earth and fun attitude make this podcast awesome!

What’s the episode where Penny goes to talk about “sugar being bad”? Topic i’m curious on..

    Thanks.

    • Ed Brown

Thanks Nick! Glad you like the show!
The episode where Penny talks about sugar was SoT 44: An Elevated Risk Of Blowing Up. A number of experts in the US were calling for a tax on sugar, to reduce consumption.

What’s happening with this Astronomy-only SoT show? :p

    • Sadly there’s only 24-hours in a day. It’s something I want to do, definitely, but the regular SoT is enough work for now!
